This residential property was suffering with patches of penetrating damp and rising damp. The penetrating damp was a particular problem, being located in an alcove. In addition, salt contamination was present in the chimney breast.
Our approach to resolving this house’s multiple issue was multifaceted. We performed a partial tanking of all affected areas and removed all of the damp and damaged plasterwork. In addition, we removed 300mm of good plasterwork and all floor bound skirting boards affected by the issues. We then injected a new chemical damp proof course to prevent issues recurring. We applied tanking slurry to bricks and added two coats of internal render. Finally, we reskimmed all the affected areas to ensure a polished finish.
In agreement with the property owners, we also planned a return visit to ensure the problems did not repeat themselves. The client, was pleased with the outcome, making the following comment:
“I thought Luke had excellent knowledge of the work that had to be carried out. He charged me less than the quote he gave me and to be honest I wouldn’t have know he had carried out less work unless he told me. Very honest. Luke was willing to answer questions and responded very quickly when any were asked. I can not praised Luke enough and would recommend him to all my friends and family.”
